Cluster feeding is when a baby takes lots of small feeds close together instead of one full feed and a longer gap. It clusters most often in the late afternoon and evening, and it can feel like the baby is permanently attached.

It is a normal newborn behaviour. Babies cluster feed to top up before a longer sleep, to settle themselves, and, on the breast, to tell your body to make more milk. It shows up strongly during growth spurts.

With twins the evening cluster can double up and feel overwhelming. It still passes, and tracking the feeds helps you see it for the normal phase it is rather than a sign something is wrong.
